A boon for metal transformation
The metal transformation industry is a major role player in Quebec’s economy. Confronted by considerable challenges in terms of manpower, global competitiveness, productivity, energy, and environmental footprint, businesses must constantly innovate.
In 2011, the Quebec Government launched a contest calling for the creation of two new sectoral clusters: An opportunity to give the metal transformation industry its very own financial leverage for innovation. Twelve bids were submitted.
In March 2012, the Quebec Government ultimately selected only one candidate, CRITM, which became the ninth RSRI member. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization and commenced operations in February 2014, supported by government funding. CRITM action supports activities in the metal transformation cluster.
